It’s quite probable that a number of bizarre ideas were born in the “Royal Oak”, a student hangout in Oxford, England, before the two young astronomers Chris Lintott and Kevin Schawinski came up with their crazy notion: if you haven’t got the time to process a huge amount of data, then find volunteers to do it for you! In this case the data involved was a batch of one million images of galaxies taken by a robotic telescope.
