In days of old a substantial amount of work was done in the parlor; nowadays companies award text contracts to micro-jobbers. They get a lot done, but they cannot make a living out of it.

Every morning at eight-thirty Luise Fischer (name altered) enters the study of her single-family home and undergoes a transformation. She discards her identity as a housewife and mother and becomes a worker in the World Wide Web.
