Interview: Experiences of Support Clickworker Hazel

In todays blog article we wanted to give you the chance to learn a little about Hazel, who has been with us for quite some time and has already gathered experiences with various Clickworker tasks, one of which is the role of Support Clickworker.

Hazel, tell us a little about yourself and how you became a Clickworker:

I’m a 30-something mum living in England, UK, I live with my fiancé, my son, 2 cats and 1 dog. I’ve been working for myself for 11 years after not wanting to leave my son at home so young. Since he was diagnosed with a disability I decided to keep on working from home. I became a Clickworker 2 years ago after looking for some extra income after a contract ended.

Email support team member, UK Associate for job listings, Reputation Manager. I also volunteer as a Facebook group admin for the community and business pages and am a Clickworker forum moderator.


Your work at clickworker:

I worked mainly in customer support and finance since the age of 17, at 25 I decided to work for myself. In the past decade I have done various types of work including email and live support, content and fictional writing, SEO work and running my own Tarot reading service. As I can’t commit to shift work I work at all different times of the day and fit it around my life as needed.

I have been with Clickworker for 2 years and when I joined I really loved the idea of having a community Facebook page and private forum. I always find no matter where I work I really like to help people and this was noticed by staff at head office. I was given the role of UK Associate for job listings and then offered the position to work within the support team and accepted the volunteer positions on the forum and Facebook.


How does your workspace look like?

Things you would like other Clickworkers to know:

I really like helping others, it’s in my nature in work and in day to day life. I am however, straight to the point, especially if I’m busy! I think it’s great when the clickworker community comes together and helps to support one another. My main advice for Clickworkers is to connect with others, even if it’s just to read current and prior posts on the forum and remember: The only silly question is the one you didn’t ask. Knowledge is power!


What you are doing when you are not clickworking:

I write for a few companies, look after my son and my fiancé and my mother sometimes, as they all have disabilities and perform tarot card readings for clients online. I also spend my spare time helping people on the Clickworker forum and Facebook pages.


Outstanding personal characteristics:

I feel I retain knowledge really well and am always willing to share it with others. I am empathic and appreciate the concerns of others. I’m open minded and easy to have fun with. I have over a decade of working and communicating online which I feel is a great benefit in this kind of work.


After work it’s time for:

Playing board games with my family, playing video games, watching horror/sci-fi films and relaxing with a couple of glasses of wine. I sometimes go to the cinema and love to dine out. Currently I’m redesigning my entire house so a lot of my time is going into that right now!

Other:

I’m very interested in body modification and have been pierced almost 50 times, although I haven’t kept them all. I also have 40 hours of tattoo work on my body and don’t plan on stopping any time soon!
